I'm finally sharing my strategies on traveling for cheap! After spending so much time comparing travel sites, I've realized that they're all about the same prices. I stick to Expedia when booking my travel because Rakuten offers cash back for every travel purchase on Expedia.com!
HOTELS
Rakuten is my #1 money maker site when it comes to online shopping. PLUS, you don't have to link your card to it, so it's completely safe to use. (So far I've made $421.62 from this site!) All you need to do is create an account (https://www.rakuten.com/r/MADISO10414?eeid=28187), search where you're shopping, and navigate to the site from Rakuten's page. (This works on ANY online purchase not just traveling!) Once you make a purchase, your cash back will go into your Rakuten account to be redeemed as a check or gift card. After making your first purchase using my link above, you'll get $10 for FREE in addition to your cash back!
Right now, when you book your travel (hotels, flights, etc) with Expedia's travel site, you'll earn 6% of your cash back from Rakuten! This is what I did for our EXPENSIVE trip to Nashville last year. I made $45 back just for going through Rakuten's website before booking on Expedia! Once you start with a travel site, it's best to continue to book with them on your other trips since they generally offer "rewards" to repeat customers. Expedia has offered me a cash balance to use towards future travel bookings which definitely keeps me coming back.
If you log onto Rakuten's site and search "travel," you can see the many options for cash back. This includes Hotels.com, Travelocity, Priceline, Booking.com, and Hilton. Whatever you prefer to book with, make sure you use Rakuten to get your money back!
UBER RIDES
If you're traveling somewhere that you know you'll end up needing to call an Uber at some point, have your discount codes READY! I did this before the trip and it really does help to cut down on the not so fun costs (like car rides) and give you some extra cash for the fun things. You can get $2 off your first 3 Uber rides with my code: 'madisonr7029ue'
If you've already used Uber before, Google search for discount codes before your trip. Better yet, share your own code (found in the app) with your friends who are traveling with you. This gives you a $5 credit to use on your next ride!
ACTIVITIES
The cheapest way to travel is always planning ahead! I check Groupon when I'm traveling and want something fun to do that isn't crazy expensive. All you do is search where you're going and select "Things To Do." This list has all kinds of discounted activities to choose from. You can click here: https://www.groupon.com/visitor_referral/h/4192ad63-1e58-4ba7-9362-440bd5082c7d to check out what Groupon has to offer!
Don't forget, Groupon is also on Rakuten! This means even more cash back on your traveling!
Happy Saving!
xoxo,
Mattie
